Karen Okigbo 

Accepted a postdoc offer at the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy. Karen defended her dissertation this summer and began the position in September.

 

Siqi Tu

Accepted a postdoctoral fellow position for Global Perspective on Society at NYU Shanghai for the 2021-2022 Academic Year. Siqi is currently a postdoctoral research fellow at the department of Ethics, Law and Politics of the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Religious and Ethnic Diversity.

 

Jonathan Zisook

Accepted a visiting lecturer position in the Department of Sociology at the University of Pittsburgh for the 2021-2022 academic year

 

Wenjuan Zheng 

Accepted an assistant professor position at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology

Carmela Dormani (Class of 2020)

Rebecca Karam 

Will begin a postdoc position in Fall 2020 at Michigan State University as a Dean’s Research Associate. She will defend her dissertation titled “Making Muslim Americans: Parenting Practices, Parochial Schools, and the Transmission of Faith Across Generations in Metropolitan Detroit” in August, 2020.

Berglind Hólm Ragnarsdóttir (‘2019)

Will start a tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor of sociology at the University of Akureyri, Iceland in Fall 2020

 

Tanesha Thomas 

Accepted a tenure-track position as assistant professor of sociology at Montclair State University. Tanesha defended his dissertation titled “Is the South (still) America’s Sacrifice Zone? A Regional Analysis of Toxic Emissions, 1987-2017” in June, 2020.

 

Anna Zhelnina 

Will start a two-year postdoc position at the University of Helsinki in Fall 2020.   Anna plans to defend her dissertation “”Engaging Neighbors: Housing Strategies and Political Mobilization in Moscow’s Renovation” in August 2020.

 

Melanie Lorek (‘2018)

Accepted a tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor with CUNY School of Professional Studies.

Has accepted a tenure track Assistant Professor position in the Sociology Department at SUNY New Paltz starting in Fall 2020.

Siqi Tu
Has accepted a postdoctoral research fellow offer for next fall at the Ethics, Law and Politics department at the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Religious and Ethics Diversity in Göttingen, Germany.

Joseph Van Der Naald
has been invited to attend the National Science Foundation-sponsored Problem Solving Sociology Dissertation Proposal Development Workshop put on by Monica Prasad at Northwestern University in May 2020. This has subsequently been moved online.
